Today the Muslim world celebrates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The Prophet loved feeding the poor in addition to countless other community interventions.

05/03/2018 - Record Breaking Sandwich Distribution

After a second attempt to break the world record for the longest sandwich, Clover succeeded. Gift of the Givers received 2000 sandwiches which we distributed in Alexandra,Orange Farm, Mayfair and Riverlea.

1000 Hills Community Helpers

1000 Hills Community Helpers is situated in Inchanga and serves a community +- 30 000 people. Their mission is to improve the lives of children and adults infected and affected by chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, TB, Hepatitis, Cancer, Arthritis and Hypertension through home based primary health care clinics, feeding scheme ECD programmes, counselling and support groups.

02/12/2017 - Celebration in Eldorado Park
Gift of the Givers was one of the main sponsors for a mass gathering in Eldorado Park in celebration of the birth of Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him. The event was attended by over 3000 men, women and children. Kids were spoilt with sweets, juice and all guests enjoyed a hot meal.

Gift of the Givers reached out to the community of Gamalakhe where approx 5000 people attended an event hosted at Olwandle School. The event, co ordinated by Mr P.S Dlamini , identified the needs of the community and specifically the youth and their leadership skills which need to be developed.

Feeding Scheme

We run our feeding scheme project in Gauteng and the Western Cape.


We started a mobile soup kitchen in March 2008, which covered the Berea area in Johannesburg. In March 2009, the weekly feeding scheme grew to five feeding points in the greater Johannesburg area and in May this has increased to seven feeding points. Orange Farm FeedingIn honour of 'Gogo', as the community fondly refers to her, GOTG hosted a lunch for the Orange Farm community which comprises of very poor people. Gogo fought for freedom in South Africa during the Apartheid era and now serves her community by taking care of orphans and running a fulltime soup kitchen with the assistance of Gift of the Givers. Cape Peninsula University of TechnologyGOTG was approached by Gadija Solomon and Jacqueline Scheepers of Cape Peninsula University of Technology to partner them in a Learner Support Program. The project commenced on 29 April 2010 and is set to continue for 10 consecutive weeks.

10/10/2018 - Mental Health Day
Gift of the Givers serves lunch at the Mental Health Day held at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital with over 250 attendees comprising of school children and members of the community. The team also delivered water, fruit and noodle packs.

10/03/2017 - Fruitspot

Gift of the Givers and Fruitspot have partnered since January 2017 in supplying carefully screened NGO's with fruit and vegetables. We were asked to donate to Creches, Disability Centres, Orphanages, Day Care and Old Age Homes.

Organisations collect on a weekly basis and in order to provide the best possible service we distribute to 30 NGO's daily. These donations feed approximately 32000 people
