25/07/2012 - Northdale Primary SchoolThe children attending Northdale Primary School in Pietermaritzburg generally come from low income households and townships outside of Northdale. They are so excited about their garden project and have a good sense of pride and ownership of their school. The fresh produce from the garden is used for the school's soup kitchen which feeds the children who don't bring lunch to school.
School gardens are an excellent way to teach children about the food they eat, the nutritious advantages of fresh, locally grown food while helping children get balanced meals. The children learn first hand about sustainable agriculture.Gift of the Givers distributes:
