Water Crisis in Bloemhof 05 June 2014
Local clinics and hospitals were flooded by the Bloemhof community with an outbreak of severe diarrhoea after the water supply was contaminated by an unconfirmed source. The contaminated water sadly claimed the lives of 3 babies and left several ill.
The Gift of the Givers team handed over 3 Food Parcels to the bereaved families.
After a symbolic handover to the MEC of Local Government, Mr Collen Maine, the team then made their way into the community distributing Lifebouy Anti-bacterial Soap, with Scrubs or Face Cloths to locals creche's and clinics. An awareness was raised around personal hygiene and the importance of washing your hands regularly.
