Earthquake 2006

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, struck the Indonesian island of Java, leaving more than 3500 killed and thousands injured. The earthquake had hit most of the built-up areas, affecting the most densely populated areas. The quake destroyed homes, hotels and government buildings. Roads and bridges were also destroyed, hindering taxis and pickup trucks from getting the wounded to the hospital.
