House of Smiles

House of Smiles centre in Harare, Zimbabwe, runs a dynamic program for street children. The drop-in centre has bathing and laundry facilities and provides morning tea with bread and a meal at noon. Gift of the Givers regularly provides the food and hygiene products.

The centre also provides psycho therapy, music and art lessons and medical care through nearby healthcare providers.

Gift of the Givers distributes monthly food and hygiene packs to Frail Care Centres and Orphanages in Harare, Zimbabwe.

These centres provide excellent care and a safe haven to orphans and elderly who would have otherwise been living on the streets.

Food and Hygiene Packs in Mashonaland

Gift of the Givers visits flood affected communities in Mashonaland Central to deliver 180 family food and hygiene packs.

Gift of the Givers was honoured to be a part of the Free Cleft Reconstructive Surgery Program carried out at Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo. The program was headed by President of “Operation of Hope”, Jennifer Mora Trubenbach and her surgical team, in collaboration with Schweppes Zimbabwe, the University of the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare.

We had the opportunity to reach out to Chengaosa Disabled Children Support Trust in Mabvuku, a high density suburb 17km east of Harare, Zimbabwe. Families belonging to the program came from Mabvuku, Tafara and Glen Norah.

St Joseph's Home for Boys aims to maintain a safe environment that cares for and protects boys who are destitute or without adequate means to support themselves.  The Home cares for orphaned, abandoned and abused boys who need not only a home but education as well.

Gift of the Givers visits the BS Leon Retirement Village located in Monovale in Harare, Zimbabwe, with the monthly drop off but this time we took along a little something special for the residents of the village.  “BS Leon”, as it's best known, specialises in the care and treatment of old and infirm members of society and accommodates currently 70 residents of any race and gender.
