Qurbani means sacrifice. Annually during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims all over the world slaughter an animal - a goat, sheep, cow or camel - to reflect the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail as per the instruction from God Almighty.

Traditionally a third of the meat is given to the poor. At Gift of the Givers, we have since 2005, been conducting Qurbani at our Malawi branch, distributing parcels of meat to thousands of people. All 7 shares yielded by 1 cow is sorted and packed at a well maintained, hygienic facility by a dedicated team of volunteers who conduct the operation with skill and reverence for its significance.

The operation has since spread to Senegal, where our 2013 distribution took place.
