1000's of recipients in various locations filled with gratitude and absolutely satisfied by our contributions.
Our Gauteng branch made a total contribution of R2 136 110.00. The atmosphere in both venues, exciting and filled with emotion.
The elderly of the Boikhutsong Old Age Home, Hamanskraal, received a range of much needed aid from the GOTG, Woolworths Menlin and Amka Products partnership making the day memorable and enjoyable. Representatives of Amka provided an amazing gift pack of hygiene products, whilst the Woolworths staff who arrived in their South African shirts provided food, luxury items and clothing for the elderly. To add to the festivities, a nearby nursery school was invited to be apart of the celebration. They sang the National Anthem so proudly and afterward rendered a great big "Happy Birthday" to Tata Mandela.
Air Liquid made a generous donation of R150 000.00 towards the food parcels and donated their 67 minutes into packing these parcels. 150 Wonder Cooking Bags were also donated to the community who gathered at Tamaho Clinic in Alrode. Children formed long queues to receive their soup and bread. The clinic staff so graciously contributed their time to assisting with our distribution and crowd control.
Our KZN branch had lots planned for their Mandela Day, with 9 different locations, 100's of people anxiously waiting, there's no wonder the distributions went well into the evening. One such distribution took place in Phoenix and our team was assisted by Phoenix Poverty Reduction Association and the Department of Basic Education.
Our Cape Town branch distributes aid in partnership with Airliquid to Masincedane Clinic in Gugulethu. Blankets, Food Parcels, Sibusiso Ready Food and hot soup and bread were given to 400 people. The food items were delivered to Airliquid for their staff to pack into our bags as part of their 67 minutes for Mandela Day. On the day of the distribution we collected the food parcels and together with Airliquid staff distributed and fed at the Masincedane Clinic. The smiles and appreciation on the faces of our elders and ill were as if it were their birthday and not Madiba’s. Once again this was a rewarding day for our team and a humbling experience for the staff of Airliquid.
