Spending 67 Minutes in 6 Centres in Alexandra

After a briefing session at the Gift of the Givers Logistics Centre we left in convoy with JMPD and members of the COJ, for the Gift of the Givers 'Green Village'. We were addressed by National Traffic Police Chief, David Tempe and Regional Director, Liziwe Ntshinga-Makoro.
Staff from Barron Clothing and Consol Glass joined Gift of the Givers by volunteering to spend their 67 minutes distributing donated items at each venue.

To the Setshwetla food garden we went where deposited compost into the soil, raking and toiling in preparation for sowing.

Next stop, Alexandra cemetery. After a long walk through the informal settlement, City Parks and Pikitup collected all the rubbish that defaced the cemetery. We then handed over building material to repair the damaged palisade fencing and other deformities.
We again traveled in convoy to the 8th Avenue Clinic where a human chain was made and hygiene parcels were donated to members of staff and the community.

We invited 250 orphans to the Phuthaditjaba Early Development Centre to receive a cupcake, sweet pack and blanket each. The centre received bulk food items.

We proceeded to the last Centre, the Itlhokomeleng Old Age Home, whose founder, Marjorie Manganye (87 years), started 42 years ago. Gift of the Givers donated food items and baked a 1.3m x 1.2m cake. Thank you to Barron Clothing for their generous donation of 300 clothing packs and gifts.
