Qurbani 1437/2016

Dear Brothers and Sisters
As Salaamu Alaykum

We are focusing our Qurbani programme purely in West Africa this year.  Gift of the Givers project managers have gone deep into the desert, seen the poverty and the tough circumstances under which people live.  In virtually every home you will not find any food stores.  Most people survive day to day.  Meat, indeed food, is a luxury.  The provision of meat parcels will elicit responses of gratitude, prayer and inner happiness.  The poverty, demeanour, humility, sincerity and piety of the populations have motivated our decision to focus totally in this region this year.  Shares are R650 each and will be distributed in Mauritania, Mali, Senegal, Niger and Burkina Faso.  Many religious schools are totally dependent on the meat that they receive to sustain their pupils for the entire year as most of them come from absolutely poverty stricken areas.
Deposits into Gift of the Givers, Standard Bank, Pietermaritzburg, Account Number 052137228, Branch Code 057525.  Please send deposit by fax or email with full contact details and number of shares.  Please use either the fax or email, NOT both, and please don't send to multiple email addresses.  If you have any queries please feel free to contact us toll free on 0800786777.

Gift of the Givers main location for Qurbani or the ritual slaughtering for Eid al-Adha was West Africa. The countries included Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Gambia, Mali, Burkino Faso and Nigeria. This is one of the poorest regions in the world and the most overlooked. Constant droughts and harsh terrains make it one of the most difficult regions to travel in and therefore difficult to work in.
