Iftar Pack Distribution in Malawi

The distribution of Iftaar packs commenced in Malawi just before the onset of Ramadaan and completed within a period of ten days.

The exercise has been undertaken in partnership with Malawi Relief Fund-UK/Issa Foundation who have given us a donation for distribution of 5000 Iftaar Packs, which have been given to individual families through their respective mosques located in 10 districts of Neno, Mwanza, Mangochi, Machinga, Thyolo, Blantyre, Phalombe, Chikwawa and Nsanje in Southern Region as well as Dedza and Salima in the Central Region, i.e. out of a total of 28 districts.

The packs contained the following items:-

• 10kg Fortified Maize Meal
• 2kg Corn Soya Blend with Sugar
• 3kg Mixed Beans
• 5kg Broken Rice
• 450g Soya Pieces (5 packets)
• 2 litres cooking oil
• 1kg Kitchen Salt
• 250g Kachangu Biscuits
• 200g Chisangalalo Tea
• 200g Winner Laundry Soap

The timely support through Iftaar Packs has encouraged the faithful to observe the fasting period without facing challenges due to lack of food with which to break their fast.

Targeted beneficiaries hail from the same districts that were also recently affected by floods, drought conditions and army worms that resulted in thousands of people being food insecure.
