Winter Warmth 2014

Winter is upon us once again with the bitter cold affecting many South Africans especially the hungry, the homeless and those most vulnerable due to socio-economic circumstances.  Gift of the Givers Winter Warmth Project commenced on 16 May 2014 with a distribution at Kwa Tema in partnership with Operation Snowball, a project of The Star newspaper.  Subsequent distributions are listed below:

Many of our distributions are accompanied by hot meals and new clothing in addition to our blankets.  Distributions will be carried out in Alexandra and Sandton tonight; yesterday 200 blankets were handed out to women and children evicted in Alexandra. Mineworkers families are also recipients of the blankets in this cold period.

SMS "GIFT" followed by an amount between R5 and R200 to 30100 from your Vodacom number or 42600 from all other networks at a cost of R30 per sms. Eg. "Gift R50", not "Gift R50.00"

PS.  Unilever contributed 50 000 disinfectant soap for hygiene purposes to assist the people of Bloemhof. Distribution of this and other relevant items were carried out by Gift of the Givers yesterday.  Food parcels were given to three families who lost babies through the contaminated water.
