After 467 days of relentless bombardment, a ceasefire has been announced. Rebuilding of a ravaged city now commences.
Gift of the Givers has launched a major renovation project at the Al-Shifa'a Medical Complex in Gaza, we are restoring the Eastern Maternity Building, which will provide 75 beds over three floors, including a small intensive care unit.
As the largest medical complex in the region, Al-Shifa'a served as more than just a healthcare facility - it was a beacon of hope, providing shelter to displaced civilians while delivering critical medical services during a period of intense bombardment.
This restoration project goes beyond physical reconstruction; it embodies the community's unwavering determination to rebuild its essential health infrastructure. When completed, the renovated Al-Shifa'a Hospital will restore vital medical services to the entire northern Gaza Strip, with modernised facilities equipped to handle emergencies and provide comprehensive specialist care across a range of medical specialties.
We are also launching a campaign to rebuild and repair damaged homes, with the aim of alleviating the plight of the families affected. Our ultimate goal is to facilitate a return to normalcy for these households by ensuring that they have adequate shelter.
Our water distribution project is actively delivering essential supplies of safe drinking water to displaced families throughout Gaza.
As part of our commitment to provide psychosocial support to the children of Gaza who are facing the harsh realities of war and devastation, we have organized fun activities and created vibrant recreational spaces that provide these young survivors with a sanctuary where they can play, relax and experience moments of carefree joy. By prioritizing their overall well-being, we aim to instil a sense of hope and empowerment that will enable them to overcome the adversity that surrounds them.
