People living with HIV and other life-threatening illnesses and who require medication on a daily basis, are often fatally affected because they are unable to take crucial medication without a meal.
As a short-term intervention, Gift of the Givers delivers food parcels to families and encourages them to engage in subsistence farming. More than 10 000 food packs were distributed in 2020 and, on a monthly basis, food continues being distributed to vulnerable families.
A basic food parcel comprises: 20kg maize flour, 2kg soya pieces, 2Kg CSB porridge, 1l of cooking oil and 1kg of salt.
