With a population of 15,6 million Zimbabwe has around 24% of children between 6 to 59 months who suffer from chronic malnutrition. Children from food insecure households are more susceptible to diseases and tend to skip school. People living with illnesses require daily medication that can only be taken after a meal.
As part of our short-term intervention, Gift of the Givers distributes food parcels to hundreds of families on a monthly basis. Our recipients include child-headed households, widows, elderly people and those living with disabilities. Through relationships built with local chiefs, headmen, social welfare services and churches, our teams reach the most isolated and vulnerable communities.
