The Gift of the Givers Foundation has once again made a significant impact in South Africa by ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the support they need ahead of Ramadan. In preparation for the holy month, the foundation facilitated the distribution of over 7,000 food hampers to beneficiaries who rely on this monthly assistance. These hampers are essential in alleviating hunger and providing nourishment to those who need it most.
As Ramadan approached, the foundation prioritized ensuring that all beneficiaries received their hampers before the start of the month, recognizing the increased demand for food during this time. Additionally, the foundation extended its support by providing Iftaar meals to organisations that serve over 4,000 fasting individuals daily. This initiative is a part of the foundation's broader efforts to ease the challenges faced by fasting communities during Ramadhan.
Gaza
As Ramadan nears, many families in Gaza struggle to access basic food items after enduring months of conflict and devastating personal losses. Our dedicated teams on the ground have launched an extensive campaign to distribute essential food parcels, ensuring displaced families have something nourishing on their tables during Iftaar. This initiative not only addresses immediate needs but also offers a sense of hope and solidarity during a sacred time of reflection and resilience.
Malawi
As we prepare to embrace the holy month of Ramadan, we are deeply aware of the struggles many families face in rural Malawi, where hunger remains a daily reality. For underserved Muslim households, the thought of fasting without a meal to break their fast is heart-breaking.
In response, Gift of the Givers has stepped in to ensure that deserving families have food on their tables this fasting month. This February, we began distributing Ramadan food packs and Iftaar packs, bringing relief and joy to many.
Recently, 160 Ramadan packs and 30 Iftar packs were delivered to Masjid E. Aisha and Issa Masjid in Gomani, T/A Kunthembwe, Blantyre. Each Ramadan food pack includes rice, cream of maize, cooking oil, soya pieces, sugar, tea leaves, and soap—ensuring families can observe this sacred month with dignity and peace.
Zimbabwe
In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, Gift of the Givers provided 630 food hampers to the Muslim community in Kwekwe. Each hamper, containing essential food items and hygiene products, offers much-needed relief to families observing the fast, ensuring they have a nourishing meal to break their fast.
