The credit merchant (Visa, MasterCard or Diners Club) will convert the South African Rand value into the cardholder’s preferred currency and forward the transaction to the card issuing bank. The credit merchant charges a percentage fee for the conversion and add this fee to the authorized amount (the cardholder pays for the currency conversion).
