#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS 💚Meet Chakanja Leston, a brave 12-year-old from Thabwa Village in Chikwawa. Born with Tibial Hemimelia (TH) — a rare condition marked by the absence or underdevelopment of the tibia — Chakanja has endured painful knee and ankle deformities that have kept him from school and playing football with his friends. Thanks to the incredible team at Beit Cure Hospital, Chakanja is now undergoing treatment using the Taylor Spatial Frame (TSF) — an advanced external fixator that allows for gradual correction of bone deformities and limb lengthening with precision. But healing isn’t just about medical intervention — it’s also about nutrition. That’s why Gift of the Givers continues to support Beit Cure, Burns Unit, MAP, and Kachere with high-protein, high-energy food supplements. For patients like Chakanja, this food support plays a vital role in restoring lost nutrients, promoting faster healing, and rebuilding strength. Our goal is simple: to give children like Chakanja the chance to recover fully and return to school, to play, to dream — without limitations.Together we can make a difference: 🌐 : http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference 📞 : +265 888 23 40 00 #GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HealthCare #NutritionSupport #Malawi

#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS 💚Recently, Gift of the Givers, in partnership with Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) and Blantyre District Council, conducted a two-day NCST (Nutrition Care Support & Treatment) review meeting at Lunzu RTC and Blantyre Primary Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to assess the progress of the NCST program from 2024 up to April 2025. Facilitated by a Nutritionist from Blantyre DHO and the Principal Nutrition and HIV/AIDS Officer from Blantyre District Council, the session engaged participants in important discussions around admission and discharge criteria based on MUAC and BMI, complications during care, program successes, challenges faced, and key lessons learned. We're proud to share that the program has seen over 1,000 patients recover — a testament to the dedication of health workers, volunteers, and all partners involved.Volunteers were also recognized with certificates and awards, a gesture that highlighted the value of their tireless efforts and the consistent monitoring they provided at clinic level. Their joy was heartfelt and well-deserved.Together we can make a difference: 🌐 : http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference 📞 : +265 888 23 40 00 #GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HealthCare #NutritionSupport #Malawi

#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS 💚Hunger is not just an empty stomach—it’s a silent crisis robbing communities of their health and strength. The ongoing severe food shortage is driving a surge in malnutrition, leaving many vulnerable.Through our Nutrition Care and Support Treatment (NCST) program, in partnership with Blantyre DHO, we recently screened 786 clients—sadly 229 were severely malnourished, while 508 were moderately malnourished. Though 46 individuals regained their health and were discharged, many still face an uphill battle. For most patients, food supplements like porridge aren’t just for them—they become a lifeline shared with hungry family members, causing supplies to run out too soon. Recovery slows, and the cycle of hunger and malnutrition deepens. Some of our patients are too weak to even make it to the hospital. Bedridden and frail, they depend on the dedication of our trained volunteers, who visit their homes, ensuring they receive counselling, monitoring, and a reason to keep fighting. These volunteers, trained by Gift of the Givers, are the unsung heroes of this crisis. As a token of gratitude for their selflessness, we provided them with essential food supplies—cream of maize, cooking oil, salt, soya pieces, and tinned fish. Because when we support those who give, hope finds its way back into the hearts of those who need it most.Together, we can fight hunger and restore health!: 🌐 : http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference 📞 : +265 888 23 40 00 #GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HealthCare #NutritionSupport #Malawi

#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS 💚When 19-year-old Eunice Chatha arrived at Limbe Health Centre in June 2024, she was frail, weak, and battling severe acute malnutrition. As a young mother of twins, her health had declined drastically after a complicated C-section, leaving her unable to eat properly.Enrolled in the NCST (Nutrition Care Support & Treatment) program, Eunice received specialized nutrition therapy, but after four months, her BMI remained dangerously low at 13kg/m². Concerned, health workers conducted further medical investigations, leading to a life-changing discovery—she had Tuberculosis (TB).With immediate TB treatment and high-protein nutritional support from Gift of the Givers, Eunice’s journey to recovery began. Six months later, her BMI had risen to 23kg/m², and she was declared TB-free—a moment of joy for both her and the dedicated health workers who stood by her side.In February alone, our NCST program, in partnership with Blantyre DHO, screened 817 patients in 14 health facilities, of whom 229 were severely malnourished, 511 were moderately malnourished, and 77 were discharged after full recovery.Together we can make a difference: 🌐 : http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference 📞 : +265 888 23 40 00 #GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HealthCare #NutritionSupport #Malawi

#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS 💚Malnutrition remains a major public health issue in Blantyre District, exacerbated by high incidences of TB and HIV/AIDS. Through the Nutrition Care and Support Treatment (NCST) program, implemented across 14 health facilities, Gift of the Givers, in collaboration with the Blantyre District Health Office (DHO), is working tirelessly to combat adult malnutrition.During last month’s screening, our team assessed 754 clients, revealing alarming statistics. Out of these, 204 were severely malnourished, 485 were moderately malnourished, and 65 had a normal BMI and were discharged. Each malnourished client received essential food supplements according to the NCST criteria. However, our assessment highlighted a disturbing trend—malnutrition is rising across all facilities, largely due to the ongoing hunger crisis affecting both urban and rural areas. With the increased patient load, the demand for food supplements has surged, creating distribution challenges where clients are forced to share limited supplies. This reality underscores the urgent need for more resources to ensure that every patient battling malnutrition receives the full support they need.Together, we can fight hunger and restore health!: 🌐 : http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference 📞 : +265 888 23 40 00 #GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HealthCare #NutritionSupport #Malawi

#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS 💚During our monthly Nutrition Care Support and Treatment (NCST) clinic at Ndimoyo Palliative Care Center, we had the privilege of meeting Lyness Banda, a 37-year-old woman from Kachitsa village, T.A. Pemba, in Salima District. Lyness is courageously battling cervical cancer and has faced numerous medical complications following her condition and chemotherapy treatments. These challenges have caused her to lose weight and become severely malnourished.Lyness was referred to Ndimoyo, where Gift of the Givers provides monthly nutrition support to patients fighting various types of cancer. She was admitted into the NCST program and has recently received Sibusiso food supplements and a basic food pack to help her recover from malnutrition, strengthen her immune system, and better withstand her chemotherapy treatments.Lyness expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “I am very grateful for the nutrition support I am receiving. I would not have been able to afford these supplements on my own as I am sick and weak. The basic food pack relieves me from all the stress of sourcing for a meal when the sun comes out. Thank you.”Stories like Lyness’s remind us of the importance of our work and the impact it has on individuals and families facing unimaginable challenges. Together, we can continue to bring hope, healing, and strength to those in need. 💚Join us in supporting more lives like Lyness’s. Your contribution can make a world of difference🌍: 🌐 : http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference 📞 : +265 888 23 40 00 #GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HealthCare #NutritionSupport #Malawi
