In 2020, of 189 countries measured, Malawi was placed 174by the UN HDI; a summary measure for assessing long-term progress in three basic dimensions of human development, being:
According to World Bank data, statistics reveal that Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and the lack of opportunity within the country simply perpetuates the cycle of poverty.
#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS💚In Malawi, where an estimated 70% of the population grapples with poverty, the challenges of food insecurity, limited income, and poor housing conditions are stark. Among the most vulnerable are the elderly, facing the brunt of financial struggles. In Makalani village, Blantyre, One Nation and Gift of the Givers are dismantling the barriers of poverty through a transformative housing project, bringing safe and secure homes to two elderly households.Four years have passed since One Nation, in partnership with Gift of the Givers, provided homes for ten elderly households in the same Makalani area. This ongoing project stands as a testament to the positive impact our collaboration brings to vulnerable communities in Malawi.Elida Kassim, one of the elderly beneficiaries witnessing her new home take shape, expressed profound joy: “I am so happy to see this project coming to life before my eyes. With my old age, this is probably the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me. I have always feared that my home would collapse from heavy rains because it is very old. But now, I will be able to live in peace knowing that I have a new home. Thank you, One Nation and Gift of the Givers.”This heart-warming endeavour reflects our shared commitment to transforming lives and ensuring dignified living conditions for those in need.Together, we break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future! 💚🏡:🌐: www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #31Years #ServingHumanity#HumanDevelopment #Housing #OneNationUk #Malawi ... #GIFTOFTHEGIVERSIn a our quest to continue uplifting the lives of the most vulnerable communities, we look closely and attentively into offering sustainable and empowering solutions for our beneficiaries. It is an exciting time for some of our Zakat beneficiaries in T/A Malemia, Zomba District, as they have recently been granted an opportunity to attain knowledge in small business management through a 3-day in-depth business training.Following recent assessments of our Zomba Zakat beneficiaries, we noted that there are some individuals who can exceedingly benefit from being empowered to stand on their own financially. A total of 34 beneficiaries attended the 3-day business training and were provided with capital to start their own businesses. The knowledge attained through the training will enable beneficiaries to navigate through diverse business atmospheres and critically analyse the different risks and opportunities in business. One of the beneficiaries, Bertha Chikagwa echoed words of gratitude and high praises to Gift of the Givers saying the knowledge she has been equipped with will help her navigate through her business journey with confidence. “I consider myself a very lucky person for being given all of this knowledge for free. I feel as if it is really Allah's will that I am one of the few lucky ones to be given this big opportunity. Allah bless Gift of the Givers.”To contribute towards our interventions, visit:🌐: www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #FortheGreaterGood #31YearsOfServingHumanity#HumanDevelopment #Entrepreneurship #FoodParcels #Malawi ...
