Last year, 34 individuals were trained in managing small businesses and provided with funds to start their businesses. However, during our regular monitoring, we identified gaps in financial recording, leading us to organize a refresher training on financial management.This month, under our Human Development Project, we trained these business beneficiaries on essential topics such as household budgeting, business planning, record-keeping, costing, pricing, market research, and revenue management. The sessions were facilitated by government officers from the Community Development Department and aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed for sustainable business growth. #32YearsOfServingHumanity - Gift of the Givers Housing Project in Kismayo, Somalia 🇸🇴 provides homes for orphaned families in the Jubbaland region. The project aims at improving the living conditions and overall wellbeing of the community. Local residents are actively involved in construction and implementation. The first phase is in completion stages of construction. Rigorous standards are being followed to ensure that the 🏠 homes are safe and durable. The second phase officially began in August 2024. #GIFTOFTHEGIVERS 💚With the support of Gift of the Givers, the Area Initiative for Youngsters Development Opportunity (AIYDO) is transforming lives through vocational skills education. To date, 100 youth have graduated in Tailoring and Design, Welding and Fabrication, and Carpentry and Joinery.Additionally, 40 vulnerable women have been supported with funds to start small businesses in GVHs Minama and Mtwiche. Furthermore, 138 vulnerable elderly and vulnerable households receive monthly food supplies through our hunger alleviation program.Last month, our team met with the AIYDO Board of Trustees to address institutional gaps and ensure compliance with government regulations. The Chair, GVH Minama, agreed to select experienced board members, set vocational school objectives, and relocate the institution to a better learning environment. A few months ago, One Nation, through Gift of the Givers, embarked on a transformational housing project aimed at improving the livelihood and standards of living for two impoverished families living in Mode, a village far from civilization and modern standards of living.The Mapata family has been living on their land for many years, struggling to earn a comfortable living for themselves. Together with their seven children and grandchildren, Hanifa Mapata and her visually impaired husband live in a small grass-thatched mud hut that cannot accommodate all ten people. Everyday life is a struggle; however, the emergence of this new project by One Nation and Gift of the Givers is their greatest hope for the future.Expressing his exceeding joy, Hanifa Mapata’s husband said, “It is exciting to watch the houses coming to life. In a short while, we will be telling a whole different story of our lives, thanks to One Nation and Gift of the Givers. We will forever be grateful for this chance at another life considering the struggle we go through every day. Having a spacious home is all we have ever desired for ourselves and our children, and that dream is finally coming to life.”In our mission to better humanity and alleviate poverty, we find satisfaction in encountering the joy that comes with the work we do. Earlier this year, One Nation built two other homes for two elderly families in Makalani village in Blantyre. Now the lives of two other families in Mode village, T/A Kunthembwe, will soon be transformed through a similar initiative.
