Some 70% of Malawi's population faces chronic hunger.
That translates to more than 12 million people living below the poverty line, surviving on less than $1 a day. Rain-fed agriculture is the mainstay of Malawi's economy, but with relentless drought and flooding, crop yields are minimal, leaving many Malawians severely food-insecure for more than six months of each year.
#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS In our tireless efforts towards hunger alleviation, Gift of the Givers has recently supported farmers in Chikwawa, specifically in T/A Ngabu, under Group Village Heads Saopa and Chamanga, with sesame, sorghum seeds and pesticides to boost their farming resilience in this disaster-prone area.1200 farmers from Saopa and 1800 from Chamanga benefited from the initiative."This support is a lifeline," says Farmer Jailosi Reji, beaming with gratitude. "We'll rely on sorghum, while waiting to sell sesame. Thank you, Gift of the Givers, for believing in us and investing in our future."By empowering these farmers with the right tools and resources, Gift of the Givers is not only boosting food security but also fostering economic independence and self-sustainability in the community.🌐: http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference : +265 888 23 40 00#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HungerAlleviation #AgriculturalSupport #Malawi

#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS The parched lands of Gomani, long defined by drought and despair, are now painted in vibrant shades of green. For Village Headman Gomani and his community, this season marks a turning point. For years, people of Gomani faced an unforgiving cycle. Low rainfall and relentless dry spells meant failed harvests, empty granaries, and nights spent wondering where the next meal would come from. But today, those same fields tell a story of abundance. Thanks to a transformative irrigation scheme supported by One Nation UK and implemented by Gift of the Givers Foundation. When our monitoring team arrived in Gomani, they found members of the community in celebration. The air was alive with the rhythm of progress, the laughter of farmers, and the thud of baskets filling with plump, golden cobs.Among those harvesting under the morning sun was Mr. Ziyambeni Potani, a farmer whose story mirrors that of his community’s transformation. With a grin as wide as his field, he lifted a basket overflowing with maize, his pride and proof of change.“Before this project we would look up at the sky and pray for rain that never came. Our families knew hunger too well. But now, with water always flowing, we have the power to feed ourselves. We are deeply grateful to Gift of the Givers Foundation for their consideration to support us and we promise to nurture it for generations to come,” Potani said. The success in Gomani shows what’s possible when visionaries and villagers join hands to confront hunger head-on. From barren fields to breadbaskets, and with Gift of the Givers Foundation, the journey has just begun.🌐: http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference : +265 888 23 40 00#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HungerAlleviation #AgriculturalSupport #Malawi
#GIFTOFTHEGIVERS Door by door, Gift of the Givers Foundation, in partnership with Care for Others, distributed food packs under its Orphan Sponsorship Program which ensures that no child is left behind because of poverty or hunger. The team reached out to Traditional Authority Nkoola in Machinga District, where 40 orphaned children have been receiving steady support since April this year. Month after month, these young souls have been provided with nutritious food items. The results speak volumes. Children who once battled hunger and malnutrition are now healthier, livelier, and full of energy. The sparkle is back in their eyes. Many who had dropped out of school due to lack of meals or supplies have returned to the classroom ready to learn, laugh, and look toward a brighter tomorrow.Teachers and guardians can’t help but notice the transformation as there is better concentration and improved performance in their education. From one home to another, Gift of the Givers continues to walk with Malawi’s most vulnerable door by door.🌐: http://www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference : +265 888 23 40 00#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood #HungerAlleviation #FoodParcels #Malawi
