An alarming number of people in Malawi do not have access to potable water and are, therefore, forced to drink contaminated water from unsafe sources.
More than 3 000 children under the age of five years die annually from diarrhea and other water-borne diseases which are caused by drinking contaminated water. Similarly, on the agricultural front, villagers are seriously dependent on unreliable sources of water, given that the country regularly experiences extreme weather shocks and droughts, resulting in failed crops, water shortages and subsequent food insecurity.
#GIFTOFTHEGIVERSStudents at Mazila Primary School T/A Maseya in Chikwawa District will no longer experience water-related disruptions during classes as the Gift of the Givers Foundation plans to drill a borehole on the school premises. The school was identified by the District Water office, along with other villages without access to safe, clean water, as part of the needs assessment for our upcoming borehole drilling project. We plan to drill 9 boreholes in various farming communities in the district.Mrs. Agness Matchona, the group village headwoman, expressed her gratitude and stated, "Once this borehole is drilled, students will no longer miss lessons looking for water to drink as this area gets very hot. This would considerably boost these pupils' performance because they will spend more time in class."Together we can make a difference:🌐 : www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference📞 : +265 888 23 40 00#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference#ForTheGreaterGood #31yearsofServingHumanity#WaterProvision #Education #Boreholes #Malawi ... #GIFTOFTHEGIVERSGift of the Givers Foundation in partnership with One Nation UK has drilled and handed over two boreholes at Kabango and Bakili Villages in Blantyre rural. People from these communities relied on rivers and shallow wells for drinking water, putting them at a high risk of contracting water borne diseases.Stella Dauka, the chief of Bakili village, expressed her excitement on behalf of the entire village, she said,"Having our own borehole is like a dream come true. I grew up not knowing the taste of pure clean water because we relied on a shallow well which didn't have clean water. To get clean water we had to walk long distances to the nearby village. We have to leave at 3 am to go get clean water, the women and children were harassed on the road by unknown men. We have graduated from the hardships we used to face in our search for clean water thanks to your gift of water."Together we can make a difference:🌐 : www.giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference📞 : +265 888 23 40 00#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood#WaterProvision #Boreholes #Malawi ... #GIFTOFTHEGIVERSAfter being notified by our Nutrition Care Support & Treatment (NCST) team that households around Dziwe Community Health Center are at a risk of contracting water borne diseases because of drinking unsafe contaminated water, we mobilized our resources to drill a borehole for the community. Our drilling team was on site at first light, however, after about 60 meters of drilling, there was still no sign of water. Determined to provide clean water to this community, the team assessed a second site that displayed the likelihood of water availability. Drilling on second site commenced on the same day, however, sadness deepened on the faces of the people from this village as the second borehole yielded no water the deeper the team drilled. While at 45 meters, there was exclamations of "Water! Water! Water!" from one of the community members. Finally, there was water gushing out of the ground with maximum pressure.Help us bring the joy of having clean and safe water to more communities by visiting :🌐:https://giftofthegivers.org/make-a-difference#GiftoftheGivers #MakeADifference #ForTheGreaterGood#WaterProvision #Boreholes #Malawi ...
