Somalia flooding

Gift of the Givers responds to flooding in Somalia

In the heart of Somalia, the relentless power of El-Nino unleashed devastating floods, leaving a trail of destruction in Baydio, Middle Jubba, Gedo, and Lower Juba in early November.

The impact is profound, inflicting immense suffering and widespread damage to the very fabric of life—bridges, roads, schools, hospitals, farms, boreholes, and homes.

The Gift of the Givers Foundation promptly allocated R1.5 million for emergency relief and teams were on the ground to assess the flash flood impact, distributing emergency relief supplies such as food, water, shelter materials, and hygiene kits.

Medical teams have been deployed to address immediate health concerns, collaborating with local healthcare facilities to enhance medical response capabilities.

Our teams established clear communication channels with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to co-ordinate efforts and maximize the impact of emergency response activities.

The Gift of the Givers Foundation remains committed to providing sustained assistance to the affected residents.

Further assessments will guide our long-term recovery initiatives, ensuring sustainable solutions for the community's rebuilding process.
