We are all dependent on water for life… it’s the very necessary foundation for our growth and development. However, it is a scarce and dwindling resource in many areas of the world, and especially South and sub-Saharan Africa. A need exists to ensure people become increasingly responsible about saving and utilising water efficiently.
When disaster strikes, water takes on even greater importance, leading to our organisation having played a necessarily active role in assisting under-resourced communities secure access to safe, potable water and hygienic sanitation facilities, an undertaking against which we have delivered since the inception of Gift of the Givers.
From drilling boreholes and installing rainwater harvesting operations, to establishing purification systems and distributing bottled water, we have the flexibility to rapidly adapt to a community’s requirements, delivering water provision solutions which most appropriately ensure the sustainability of life.

Restoring Water, Restoring Dignity 💧 #EasternCape | Our water team is actively responding to urgent water shortages in Gqeberha and Kariega, where several communities have been without running water for nearly two weeks. Following requests from residents, ward councillors, schools, and old age homes, water tankers were dispatched from Adelaide to assist affected areas including Lapland, Mountainview, Rosedale, Despatch, Malabar, Galvenpark, and Parkside.Community members gathered in large numbers to collect water, bringing drums, buckets, and containers in search of relief. Water Relief for Rural Healthcare ⛑ | In the rural village of Emakhwezini on KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, access to healthcare depends on the lifeline of the Transnet Phelophepa Healthcare Train 🚃 - bringing vital medical services to underserved communities. But even hope needs support. With over 70 staff onboard, water shortages threatened to disrupt critical care.Answering the call, we stepped in - installing water tanks and delivering 20000 litres of water daily from 14-27 March 2026.
