It is every child's right to proper education, regardless of their socio-economic circumstances.
The reality, regrettably, is that massive numbers of schools, particularly in rural areas, are significantly under-resourced. The result of inferior educational institutions is that the teaching and absorption of knowledge becomes exponentially more difficult.
This is a common problem and one so massive that Governments are unable alone to impact on school upgrades as rapidly as is necessary.
In light of this untenable situation, we contribute towards the creation of an environment conducive to the improved education of the disadvantaged.
Fatima's story is inspiring. She started her career as a cleaner at Gift of the Givers Ar Rahma Hospital in Northern #Syria 📍. Despite facing challenges, she persevered and achieved her goal of becoming a nurse. Through her hard work and determination, she was able to overcome obstacles and eventually joined the nursing staff at the hospital, fulfilling her dream.![]()

Tyburn Primary School faced significant challenges in education due to the Covid pandemic, looting in 2021, and flooding in 2022. In order for students to succeed, a better classroom environment was needed, but the school could not afford it due to the financial strain caused by these challenges. A request for assistance was sent to the Gift of the Givers, who partnered with Altacon to aid the school. The renovations included installing new burglar guards for security, upgrading the entire electrical system, changing the roofing to stop water leaks, and plumbing and painting the building. The final handover was conducted by Dr Imitaz during the school assembly. The Principal, staff, and students expressed their gratitude, honor and appreciation 💚 to both the Gift of the Givers and Altacon for making the complete restructuring of the building possible.![]()

The assembly of Mason Lincoln Special School was filled with excitement 💚 and energy this morning as Dr Sooliman conducted the school handover. Gift of the Givers and Altacon worked together to improve the learning environment for students by creating a pathway from the hostel to the school. This was necessary due to the recent flooding and heavy rains that washed away the previous pathway.![]()
Although construction can be challenging, the team of dedicated workers from Altacon worked hard and overcame the extreme heat to complete the project on time. The renovations were of high quality and standard, including: the replacement of concrete fencing, the completion of a shelter for the pathway from the hostel to the school, reinforcements to the pathway, the repair of a collapsed wall. ![]()
The final handover was met with excitement and appreciation, and both Gift of the Givers and Altacon were honored for their efforts.![]()

The damage to the infrastructure of Port Natal Skool is a result of the April floods in #kzn 📍, as well as a lack of funding for the maintenance and improvement of the school prior to the floods. The school, being a single medium one, was not provided with the necessary resources to protect its infrastructure. In an effort to address this, Gift of the Givers is undertaking upgrades to Port Natal Skool in accordance with AMAFA guidelines, as the school is considered a heritage site. The school's principal and management have also agreed to introduce dual medium instruction by fostering dialogue, inclusivity, respect, and a sense of togetherness; we believe that we can work towards rebuilding South Africa 🇿🇦 into an incredible, fully functional, peaceful, and safe country 💚.![]()

Mason Lincoln Special School, located in #Umlazi 📍, caters to learners with physical challenges, visual impairments, autism, mild intellectual impairments, epilepsy, and albinism. The school was founded in 1943 by the late Sister Mason, who taught children admitted for longer periods with polio and spinal conditions. The school was named after her. Initially, the Department of Health was responsible for providing food, security, and other health-related services, while the Department of Education only paid staff salaries and provided for the educational needs of the school. In 1997, the Department of Health withdrew all its services and handed over full responsibility to the Department of Education. Hospital wards were converted into classrooms, and over the years, the school has extended its classes and now offers education from Grade R to Grade 12. The school has an Autism Unit, Braille Unit, Remedial Unit and Pre-Vocational Unit, and the ages of learners range from 7 years to 24 years. Additionally, the school has boarding facilities as other wards were converted into female and male hostels. Today we had over the facility.![]()
