For many Yemeni, a daily meal cannot be guaranteed and acute malnutrition is evident among IDPs.
In 2014, Gift of the Givers established a new kitchen within an orphan’s centre in Hodaidah, preparing and serving daily meals to orphans, the elderly, those occupying the central prison and those in a juvenile care-home from this base.
The daily need for meals continued to grow as our out-reach in Yemen expanded and by February 2020, Gift of the Givers had launched a feeding centre at the University of Taiz. Here we employ university students to assist Gift of the Givers to prepare and deliver 540 daily meals to fellow students and school-going children. By receiving the average nutritional intake, students are better able to focus their energy on their studies and overall performance at school. Additional beneficiaries of this feeding scheme include:
