A big contribution of cream donated to GOTG by Unilever. It was a challenge distribuing 32310 litres of cream however the distributions ran smoothly over 3 days. With our vehicles fully loaded, recipients rans toward our team to collect their share of the cream. The areas in Gauteng we distributed in are as follows:
Mayisela is a small community in Loskop with an impoverished group of people who struggle every day to make ends meet. When Gift of the Givers arrived with poverty relief items, the women ululated with absolute joy and appreciation.
Mrs Mare', an educator at Haythorn Secondary School in Pietermaritzburg, witnesses the sadness of many of her students. Their living conditions are poor as they are being raised by either single parents or grandparents. This in itself is challenging and they find themselves desperately trying to make ends meet. She contacts Gift of the Givers who gladly distributes 150 Personal Hygiene Packs.

Leaders in Training some would call them as the students of Bechet High School in Sydenham were being trained and developed into responsible young adults. The teachers address them regularly in the school hall on issues surrounding Democracy and our Constitution among other topics eqiupping them for life in the "real world".
A dedicated group of 120 Caregivers from various childrens homes met at the St Theresa Children's Home in Sydenham for their biennial general meeting. 300 people filled the Amahlongwa Church Hall in Umkomaas. Each family received Margarine and Personal Hygiene Packs. The community was grateful for their gifts and their hearts were filled with joy.

Every Wednesday and Thursday a group of senior citizens gather at the Eastwood Hall in Pietermaritzburg to sew, bead and bake amongst other hobbies. Many of them come from poor households and their weekly gatherings help maintain positive attitudes as they get to show off their skills and catch up on the "good old days".
Each individual contributes R20 monthly and depend thereafter on sponsors.
Highway Aged was founded in 1978 and serves as a social club in Pinetown for pensioners in the surrounding areas. A group of Social Workers take care of the physical and emotional needs of the elderly. GOTG distributes the following items:

Mr Dan Reddy of Phoenix was involved in boating accident and tragically lost both his legs as they were swiped by the propellers of the boat. The tears of joy rolled down an overwhelmed Mr Reddy as he received a motorised wheel chair from GOTG. He particularly mentioned that he felt a sense of freedom now that he is able to move around and is thankful to GOTG for restoring his hope.

The Lungisani Indlela office hosted a one day sports banquet for the orphans in the Amatoti community. They also run developmental programmes and feeding schemes for the orphaned and physically challenged children. 500 children gathered at the Amototi school hall for the event and to receives food items GOTG contributed toward their meal.
Loving and caring for the children who are homeless and orphaned is rewarding in itself. GOTG recognises the selfless dedication of the caregivers at Sizisizwe Orphanage in Hillcrest and distributes 140 Personal Hygiene Packs.

The Abethu Home, for physically and mentally challenged individuals, is in great need of assistance as they receive a meagre R10 000.00 grant from the Government per month. The beds used by the children are often occupied throughout the day and night and the condition is way past poor. The list is endeless as their need is great, however GOTG restored hope by distributing non-perishable food items
The GOTG and Unilever drive to educate school children on how to recycle continues. The team visit 2 schools in the Kwazuba area in Umkomaas distributing 748 Personal Hygiene Packs. For most of the children at the Ophapheni and Sheshisa Primary School's it was a dream come true to meet the GOTG team who they would normally only see on TV.

Many of the elderly in Sobantu, Pietermaritzburg, cannot afford basic personal hygiene products as their pensions go mainly toward the upbringing of their grandchildren as well as other responsibilites. The Departments of Health, Agriculture and Social Development sent representatives to address the elderly residents of Imbali, Unit J. They were reminded of the significant and integral role they play within the community. GOTG paid a visit to Vuwani Creche in Sweetwaters and handed over 2 boxes of Cake Mix. The staff were grateful and were ready to get down to business with cupcakes and cookies to treat the 20 children with.

The Mzingazi Community Hall in Richards Bay was filled with 120 excited recipients who loudly cheered as GOTG distribute Personal Hygiene Packs and Baking Ingredients to supplement the existing feeding done by the Womens Netball Network. The SAPS have adopted the community due to extremely high unemployment rate and the daily struggle for bare necessities and contacted GOTG for assistance.
