Aid to Zimbabwe

Gift of the Givers symbolically handed over aid to the principal of an Anglican School in Harare yesterday. The Anglican Church has 19 such schools in it's care. The aid package valued at R1.2 million is part of a R10 million initiative for Zimbabwe for the rest of the year. Items included 3400 food parcels, 2900 stationery packs, 6000 toweling diapers, 100 000 water purification sachets (purify 1 million litres of water in cholera affected areas), 5000 pairs of socks and 30 wheelchairs.

Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, arranged a special symbolic handover to the Anglican Church representatives in the presence of the South African and Zimbabwe Governments and Gift of the Givers. Those present included Minister of International Relations, Lindiwe Sisulu, Minister of Transport, Dr Blade Nzimande, SA Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Mbete, DIRCO Director General, Kgabo Mahoi, DIRCO spokesperson, Ndivhuwo Mabaya, Zimbabwe Foreign Minister, Zimbabwe Health Minister, Zimbabwe Ambassador to South Africa, other diplomatic staff from both countries, Shaida Kara, Gift of the Givers country manager, and Muhammad Sooliman, Special Projects and Management, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, founder and chairman.
