Matinda Village Distribution

The exercise was carried out in partnership with the Office of the Disaster Management Affairs and a Member of Parliament in response to their appeal to support the families that were affected by the floods in the Lunzu area, Blantyre district. 

The distribution exercise took place on 1st April, 2015 at Matindi village where over 5000 families were affected by the disaster and are still struggling to re-establish their lives back to normality.  During the exercise, 844 families were assisted with 421 relief food parcels, as well as 28 infants and expectant mothers who received sanitary parcels.

Distribution of Farmer Packs

In partnership with Malawi Relief Fund - UK, Gift of the Givers hands over 250 Farmer Packs to families in Chiradzulu District. Each pack consisted of:

  • 10kg UREA fertilizer
  • 10kg CAN fertilizer
  • 2kg Maize Seed
  • 2kg legume seed and;
  • 1 hoe

The distribution of relief items to flood victims in Balaka District on Frid 13/02. The district has registered a displacement figure of over 8000 families, with areas of three Traditional Chiefs being the badly affected ones.

The exercise took place in two areas of Kalembo and Rivirivi where 337 families were assisted with assorted food and non-food items. The two areas have largely been ignored

Elderly in Nsanama Village

The exercise was carried out on 9April 2015 at Nsanama village where 300 families were assisted with 300 Flood Relief Parcels containing rice, tinned fish and bedsheets. Since the distribution of relief items started early January, this was the most unique exercise as most of the recipients were the elderly people of 70 years and above, and all in dire poverty.
