22 - 23/09/2012 - CPUT EMS Motivational Hike Project

On the morning of Saturday, 22 September 2012, an intrepid group of young adventurers set off on an overnight hike in Cape Point Nature Reserve. This was part of a Service Learning Project, which was a joint initiative between the Service Learning and Emergency Sciences Departments of Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), and the Gift of the Givers. Ten Grade 10 students from Khanyolwethu Secondary School and Simayene High School in Asanda Village, Strand, participated in the event, as well as 5 paramedic students, a staff member from the Service Learning Department, and a guest facilitator. The hike was intended to inspire hope and motivation among the scholars, and to encourage them to actively reach for opportunities and possibilities in life. The group returned on Sunday 23 September exhausted, but truly inspired by what they had experienced over the two days.

Gift of the Givers provides Meals, Refreshments & Clothing to the learners.
