Following three decades of conflict, persistent drought and famine, some seven million people - or 50% of Somalia's population - is dependent on humanitarian assistance.
Sadly, too, the past two years alone has witnessed the demise of three quarters of the country’s livestock.
Gift of the Givers commenced operations in Somalia in 2004, in response to the devastation wreaked by a Tsunami. It has continued providing humanitarian aid within the country ever since.

Having traversed life's trials in ramshackle dwellings, the sight of a sturdy home with iron sheets and cement felt like a fairy tale come true. His words echoed with gratitude and disbelief, as he felt the surreal joy of finally having a place to call home.Anthony Mapungwe, representing the Machinga District Council, commended Gift of the Givers and Alkhair Foundation for their invaluable contribution to breaking the cycle of poverty. Human Rights Day 🇿🇦"The life, blood, honour, dignity and possessions of a human is inviolable... Clothe the naked, feed the hungry, provide water to the thirsty, visit the sick... These instructions from Divine Scripture form the very essence of Human Rights. Only when these are denied to us do we really understand the depth of this teaching but reminders come through various lived experiences as was the case in Pre-1994 Apartheid South Africa.Today, we don't need to look any further than the actions of the Apartheid, Terrorist State of Israel, led by its terrorist leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, his Defence Minister and the Israeli Occupation Forces to understand the concept of human rights abuses in every aspect of existence. Occupation, collective punishment, indefinite imprisonment without charge even of eight-year-olds, torture, sexual abuse, rape, killing of unarmed civilians including children at point blank range, restriction of movement, forced removals of families, stealing of land, homes and possessions by criminal settler thieves, merciless beating of the innocent and now GENOCIDE.The relentless bombing of defenceless people initially with the banned white phosphorus, then 2000kg destructive bombs deliberately targeting hospitals, schools, universities, UN refugee centres, residential suburbs, businesses, industry, bakeries, roads, mosques, churches, desalination plants, water tankers and communication systems. Cutting off electricity, water, food, medicine and medical supplies through an extensive humanitarian aid blockade by road, air and sea. Sinking to the depths of moral depravity by shooting malnourished, starving civilians in a food queue. There can be no greater immoral army on earth, a battalion of cowards that execute unarmed civilians including health care professionals, aid workers, UN staff and journalists, disconnect incubators in hospitals leaving infants to die. There is no clearer account of what a denial of human rights is than what is happening in Gaza, in full view, LIVE, in real-time, witnessed by seven billion people.But, those who deny human rights always fail.
