Gift of the Givers established the Al-Rahma Medical Complex in the northern region of Syria in 2012. Today the facility serves more than 25 000 patients monthly.
The complex provides emergency and ambulance, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, intensive care, incubator surgical theatre services, as well as providing for cardiac, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, urology, ENT, gynecological, dental, pediatric and kidney dialysis activities. It also has in place a blood bank, physiotherapy, psychological support and a thalassemia department.
The Al Hilaal Hospital, although located 8km away, forms part of the Ar Rahma hospital and serves as a Covid-19 isolation ward, as well as a recovery ward for patients recovering from surgery.
During 2021 and as a direct consequence of increased numbers of patients suffering from kidney failure in the northern region, Gift of the Givers also provided the facility with a modern dialysis unit and a number of new dialysis machines to better serve patients suffering renal failure.
Additionally, Gift of the Givers is developing the Ar Rahma Hospital Compound. The village's development commenced near the Syrian-Turkish border, with the first phase set to open in the first month of 2022. The humanitarian village in Syria aims to shelter 360 families that were internally displaced as a result of the ongoing conflict in Syria.
