The Martini Centre for the Disabled is home to families and individuals who, through contracting childhood Polio, suffering neurological disorders or gunshot injuries, the consequence of the prolonged civil war, have lost mobility.
Since 2011, Gift of the Givers has provided ongoing support to this vital centre by ensuring the monthly delivery of food parcels, the provision of mobility aids, such as new wheelchairs, and weekly health-care assistance.
Health-care assistance comprises the undertaking of a variety of treatments, the dressing of wounds and the provision of health-related education, thus empowering patients to better care for themselves.
Gift of the Givers has, to date, delivered 160 wheelchairs to the Martini Centre for the Disabled, as well as to needy IDPs remotely located throughout Somalia.
