We are all dependent on water for life… it’s the very necessary foundation for our growth and development. However, it is a scarce and dwindling resource in many areas of the world, and especially South and sub-Saharan Africa. A need exists to ensure people become increasingly responsible about saving and utilising water efficiently.
When disaster strikes, water takes on even greater importance, leading to our organisation having played a necessarily active role in assisting under-resourced communities secure access to safe, potable water and hygienic sanitation facilities, an undertaking against which we have delivered since the inception of Gift of the Givers.
From drilling boreholes and installing rainwater harvesting operations, to establishing purification systems and distributing bottled water, we have the flexibility to rapidly adapt to a community’s requirements, delivering water provision solutions which most appropriately ensure the sustainability of life.
Ensuring no disruptions for learners in #Makhanda during the current water crisis 💧, our team delivered a much-needed supply to the following schools 🏫 to ensure learners are hydrated and learning continues:
🏫 #grahamstown Primary
🏫 Fikizolo Primary School
🏫 Makana Primary School

“We’ve got teams on the ground in #Makhanda 📍 that actually stay there. Since late 2019/2020 📅, they’ve been delivering water every day to various parts of the city. So over the two years there have been different crises, but never one so big. This is as big as the one we first intervened in February 2019.”

So Gift of the Givers must step in when we have a whole national government department responsible for this? This administration is the worst in our freedoms history. These people are not recognised by govt yet they clean up behind them
So we don't have water n our govt r worried about name changes . A bigger pandemic is anc not covid . Covid has a 94 percent recovery rate . Anc has a 98 percent destruction rate . N yet people vote for them for bein loyal for fytin apartheid. Sorry they fought for them selfs me n u are jus there of no worry to them .
Come election time ANC will be making false and empty promises to these poor people for their votes 🤬🤬
No water but concern about name changing....!!!😡
A disgraceful situation ! Shame on government 😢
I would love to know which chommie or family member will get the tenders for these changes 😡
Where is the government? Where are they? Changing names when there are criseses of much higher importance. 😭😭😭
Lance Ramoo
Eish we say shukaraan to Dr I Sooliman and his team whilst we have the ANC government changing names of places and airports haaibo I mean really?? Our so called President Cyril is just there can't make decisions on the future of this once beautiful country he can't even reprimand any of his or fire these looters thieves and corrupt minister's shame on you mr Buffalo and futher more he nominates the Cuban doctors for the Nobel peace prize you are a spineless man I must say Gift of the Givers has done far more than you ANC and yoll have been in office since 1996 what a joke yoll are i dare anyone that can show me what the government did for this country😠
Yet they will spend huge amounts of money RENAMING a city. Where is the sense in that decision when so many lives depend on decent living conditions. Mr. President and all your colleagues, you should hang your head in shame. You disappoint on every level.
Wasting time and money on new names ........😡😡😡😡😡
“The calls are pouring in from Makhanda. Gift of the Givers staff have to silence their phones temporarily to give their mental state a breather. There is desperation everywhere. People are in a panic. There is not a drop of water. Even the water shops ran dry.” - Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, Founder of #GiftOfTheGivers on the current water shortages in #Makhanda 📍

Water 💧, a basic human need - but the most difficult to obtain in the #EasternCape 📍
The Eastern Cape Drought started in the year 2015 and was declared a “Disaster Area” in 2019. Since then our team has been providing relief to residents in the form of daily distributions, placing community #JoJoTanks in designated spots as well as drilling boreholes in permissible areas. However, the need for clean water is increasing drastically each day.
Help us fight the #EasternCapeDrought by donating toward our Water Provision projects. #StrongerTogether
